(Summer 2005) After a year of making the rounds of the film festival circuits and looking for a distributor, we recently connected with Cut Entertainment Group (www.cutentertainmentgroup.com). Jeff Cooper, their president, heard about "Usher" at the Silver Lake Film Festival, where they also acquired the rights to "Noise" (link here), starring Ally Sheedy. They also handle the film-festival-favorite horror film, "Soft For Digging."

Within 14 days of sending them a screener, they were able to sell the DVD rights to a Thailand company for a small (but welcome) sum. It certainly paid for the cost of delivering the digibeta masters and seperate M&E (music and effects) tracks.

This is our first sale, and we can look forward to a professionally-issued DVD in a couple months. (It's likely to have our graphic on the front, but will have English and Thai language tracks and printing. We'll keep you posted as to where to acquire this collector's item!)

Cut Entertainment Group represents independent films, genre-based dramas, and shorts, emphasizing quick sales. The next task is to try and secure a domestic DVD and cable deal, as well as more foreign territories.

We'll be posting more information as it comes in. And although we weren't there, we hear a poster and postcards for "Usher" were on display at the Cannes film market last month in a distributor's booth!
